About CSSC
WHO WE ARE:
We are the bridge between the students and faculty. We help both sides communicate changes in the department, problems that have occurred, and discover courses that the students wish they can learn while here in Computer Science.
WHY WE ARE NEEDED:
The CS student body is made up of both the shy and the vocal. We have shy students that may have good ideas, but are too quiet to express them to faculty. These same students can easily talk about their ideas with other students. We also have vocal students who have no problem telling the faculty what is on their mind and are willing to approach the faculty on a whim to voice their ideas, but this is a problem for the faculty and student. The faculty member may be too busy to listen to the student, have conflicting times to meet with the student, or might have been approached by several students earlier and could not remember the topics of every conversation.
WHAT WE DO:
When students come to us they will have their ideas organized and documented by us to be presented to the faculty. This way a single faculty member neither has to carry the burden of remembering the words of a random encounter with a student, nor will they have to try to figure out a solution for the problem on their own. Instead all faculty members will be presented with the documented information and from there they can pool their knowledge to address issues and student requests.
OUR GOALS:
We wish to establish continuous free flowing communication between the faculty and students, make our presence known to all CS students, and encourage them, as well as the faculty, to work with and through us.
